Get free supplies at two Atlanta back-to-school events

Students can get a head start on back-to-school shopping thanks to the city and Atlanta Public Schools.

The city will give away free school supplies at their back-to-school bash on Aug. 10.

The event will be held at noon at the C.T. Martin Recreational Center on 3201 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Students will also get free book bags.

Atlanta Public Schools is also hosting a back to school event  the same day at the Georgia World Congress Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in halls C2 and C3.

The free event is for APS students and parents and will include health screenings as well as educational, after-school and community resources.

Students can show their APS report card to receive a free book bag filled with school supplies.

Parents can also get their child immunized at the event by registering here.

Parking for the APS back-to-school event is available at the Blue Lot on Northside Drive.

APS students return to school Aug. 12.
