Jane Chumley Ammons has achieved another milestone for women at Georgia Tech.

She is the first woman selected to chair a school within Tech's College of Engineering, officials announced Wednesday. Starting July 1, Ammons will serve as chairwoman of the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Ammons was the first female faculty member in the school. In 1982 she was the first woman to receive a doctorate from the program.
