Georgia Gwinnett College received a $50,000 grant to provide more in-class tutors in remedial classes.

Wells Fargo awarded the grant to the four-year college's foundation.

The money will be spent on the college's "Student Success" courses, which are designed for students who are not prepared for college-level work. The classes provide students with extra help in English, reading or math so they can handle the academic rigor of college.

College officials said they will offer 112 remedial courses this spring. The grant will provide tutors for 55 of the courses.
