Officials from the Georgia Department of Transportation attended the Dec. 10 meeting of the McDonough City Council to update the group on the status of the one-way pairs construction project near downtown.

The entire project is expected to be open and operational by June of 2019. The first phase was said to be 80 percent complete, and completion of that stage is dependent upon the railroad finishing its crossing on Jonesboro Road, at which time there will be a three-day closure and detour enacted.

The roundabout on Jonesboro Road is under construction and its completion is also contingent on the work at the railroad crossing.
