Shoppers taking advamtage of the state’s suspension of the sales tax for school supplies will also get a break from road construction this weekend.

The Georgia Department of Transportation will suspend construction-related lane closures within five miles of a shopping mall or major shopping district on all interstates and major state routes from 8 a.m. today, through 10 p.m. Saturday.

During the “back to school” sales tax holiday, Georgia shoppers can purchase certain clothing items, computers and computer accessories tax-free. For information concerning the tax-exempt items, visit https://etax.dor.ga.gov/hottopics.aspx.
