Freedom Barkway Dog Park, located just off I-85 on Freedom Parkway, will be open in March. The park, which is still being completed, is designed as a place of comfort and exercise for area dog lovers and their pets.

The park is a cooperative effort with the Georgia Department of Transportation, the City of Atlanta Parks Department and the Old Fourth Ward Neighborhood. The three groups have worked and planned the park for two years, according RJ Morris, Chief Operating Officer for the board of directors of the park.

“It is the first time in which Georgia DOT land, at least two acres, will be used for a dog park,” Morris stated.
