GBI: Tennessee escapee on the loose
A man who escaped from a Tennessee jail in July may now be traveling through Georgia, the GBI said Wednesday afternoon.
Arthur Garteth Milks, who escaped from the Henderson County jail on July 25, could be driving a brown Chevrolet K-10 pickup truck bearing Georgia tag AYX4030, said John Bankhead, GBI spokesman.
The truck, which has a long bed containing a diamond plate tool box and rear bumper, was reported stolen Wednesday morning from Gordon County in northwest Georgia. The vehicle has a dent on the front fender, Bankhead said.
Milks, 38, was spotted in the Plainville area of Gordon County late Tuesday, but he eluded a massive manhunt, Bankhead said.
Milks was serving a 22-year sentence on 31 convictions for burglary and weapon charges, according to the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
