The Gateway85 Community Improvement District is helping to partially fund two current studies in partnership with the Gwinnett and Georgia Departments of Transportation.

A freight logistics study being conducting by Atlas consists of focus group meetings and planning sessions to learn how freight currently moves through the district and what obstacles must be overcome to improve that movement. The study is expected to be complete Aug. 31.

The second study is taking a look at truck parking in the CID. New rules on how long truck drivers can be actively driving make where they park their vehicles to rest an issue of concern. Kimley-Horn is leading this study to learn where trucks are currently parking within the district and the options available to minimize their impact on businesses and the surrounding community.

Both studies are expected to result in recommendations related to future roadway, intersection and traffic flow projects.
