Metro Atlanta’s average gas price early Monday was 21 cents lower than a month ago, with some stations selling a gallon of regular unleaded for as much as 17 cents below the $3.31 average.

The cheapest gas in the area is $3.14 a gallon at several Flash Foods locations in the Fayetteville area, according to atlantagasprices.com, a website that tracks how much we pay to fill up our tanks.

But numerous other stations from Kennesaw, Acworth and Cartersville on the north side to Morrow on the south side, are selling gas for under $3.20.

Atlanta’s average of $3.31 is 18.5 cents cheaper than the national average, and is the lowest for metro Atlanta since late January, when soaring prices climbed back above $3.30 after bottoming out at $3.12 a gallon in December.

The peak average price this year has been $3.80 in late February.

Statewide, the cheapest price early Monday was at a couple of stations in Elberton — $3.06.
