Gas leak shuts down parts of Ponce de Leon
April 12, 2016 - Atlanta - The Atlanta Fire Department is on the scene as Ponce De Leon Ave. is shut down between N. Highland Ave and Briarcliff Rd / Moreland Ave due to a gas leak at a construction site on Ponce. BOB ANDRES / BANDRES@AJC.COM
A gas main leak blocked traffic on Ponce de Leon Avenue between Highland Avenue and Briarcliff Road Tuesday afternoon.
Atlanta Police Department released a media alert at 12:21 p.m. stating that a caller reported a construction crew struck the gas line, which led to the leak. As of 3 p.m., Atlanta fire crews were still on the scene, said Atlanta Police Department spokesman Donald Hannah.
All lanes were open by 7 p.m.
