Thanks to surveillance footage, the FBI has gotten a detailed look at two alleged bank robbers.

The two men responsible for a bank robbery earlier this month in Gainesville are likely the same individuals responsible for a heist in Tennessee on Wednesday, Special Agent Stephen Emmett, spokesman for the FBI office in Atlanta, said in an email.

The FBI and the Newport (Tenn.) Police Department are investigating the incident at a Tennessee State Bank on Epley Road. Two men, one armed with an assault-type rifle, entered the bank, demanded and obtained an undisclosed amount of money, then fled.

The first suspect, who had the rifle, is described as a white male in his mid-30s, between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall with a slender build. He was wearing dark clothing, including gloves.

The second suspect is described as a white male in his mid-20s, about 5-8 with a medium build. He was wearing dark clothing and gray gloves. Newport is about 45 miles east of Knoxville.

In the Dec. 11 Gainesville robbery, two men, one of them carrying a rifle, entered the SunTrust bank in the 1400 block of Thompson Bridge Road around 4:45 p.m. and announced the robbery, according to a news release from the FBI.

The armed suspect, who mentioned a home foreclosure, and the other man jumped over the teller counter and took an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing, authorities said.

The suspects were described as white males in their mid-20s to early 30s.
