Furkids, a cage-free no-kill animal shelter, announced it is moving its cat shelter and headquarters from Doraville to a 10-acre property south of Cumming in Forsyth County.
"Furkids had been leasing the property for its Doraville cat shelter, and the new Cumming location is a permanent home — a home of our own!" the organization said in an announcement of the move. Information: https://bit.ly/2kAoyEk
The group said it will open its new headquarters and cat adoption center at 5235 Union Hill Road in mid-October, and will be ramping down its Doraville operations through year’s end. Cats will be housed temporarily in an existing building in the Forsyth location while the group raises money to build a new cat shelter.
The pending move has created an immediate need for adoptive or foster homes for 100 felines. For details on a BOGO cat adoption promotion: https://bit.ly/2kkF4bl
Furkids’ dog shelter will remain in Alpharetta, and the group will continue maintaining cat adoption centers at area Petco and PetSmart stores.
The 501(c)3 nonprofit also is opening a new, multi-purpose satellite center on Holcomb Bridge Road in Peachtree Corners, next to its existing thrift store. Furkids has rescued and altered more than 30,000 animals since its founding in 2002, according to its website: https://furkids.org/
