Funeral services were held Wednesday for a University of Georgia student killed in a weekend wreck in northeast Georgia.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Dylan Cane Parker, 20, of Toccoa, was a passenger in a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze that left an Oglethorpe County roadway and struck a tree early Sunday.

Parker, a 2011 graduate of Stephens County High School, was a student at the University of Georgia. His funeral was Wednesday morning at First Baptist Church of Toccoa.

Brandon Ray Brooks, 22, of Royston, was driving the Cruze when it wrecked about 2:45 a.m. Sunday in a curve on Ga. 10.

State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said neither Brooks nor Parker were wearing seat belts.

Wright said Brooks, who was not injured, was charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane, driving too fast for conditions, seat belt violations and hit-and-run/leaving the scene of an accident.
