The Henry County Board of Commissioners took action Jan. 20 to make sure the county’s libraries are funded for the next five months.

A budget amendment approved at the commission’s regular meeting provided $275,000 for the library system’s operation through the remainder of the current fiscal year which ends June 30. Library officials warned several months ago that cuts in county and state funding would put the five local branches in danger of running out of money long before the end of the year.
