The Henry County Board of Commissioners approved two separate actions June 18 that will increase funding for the county’s accountability courts.

A resolution was passed accepting more than a half-million dollars in grants from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, administered by the Governor’s Office. That money will be distributed to the Adult Felony Court, Resource Court, Veterans Court, DUI/Drug Court and Juvenile Mental Health Court. The board also approved allocating just over $100,000 in Drug Abuse Treatment and Education funds for all but the juvenile court.

State law allows DATE funds to be collected from additional penalties on fines related to controlled substances and marijuana, to be spent specifically on programs dealing with drug abuse treatment and education.
