North Fulton County Commissioner Liz Hausmann couldn’t convince the board to reconsider parting ways with the Cauley Creek Water Reclamation Facility in Johns Creek, which provides gray water used by several golf courses including the Atlanta Athletic Club. The panel instead voted 4-2 to reaffirm its decision to end the $7 million per year wastewater treatment contract.

Hausmann cited a letter from the state’s Environmental Protection Division director listing concerns and asked for a “transparent process” before changing the county’s water plan. South Fulton Commissioner Bill Edwards countered that the closure will lower water rates by 4 percent, and countywide residents can’t subsidize Northside golf courses.
