The Fulton Schools College and Career Academy held an Open House on February 28 to give industry leaders and other guests an opportunity to see what’s inside. During the event, participants saw two flight simulators that give students real-world authentic training that will allow them to transition seamlessly into aviation careers. They also saw restaurant-size kitchens for culinary students, state-of-the-art video equipment and technology for aspiring filmmakers and animators, all a part of the district’s cutting-edge career and education program that is preparing students for high-wage, high-skill careers and post-secondary options. Potential partners and industry leaders met Fulton students and learned about opportunities to support the programs. The Academy opened in August 2016 to 200 students from Westlake, Creekside, Langston Hughes, Tri-Cities, and Banneker High and offers a half-day of industry-specific instruction in four career pathways: Construction, Aviation, Film and Animation, and Culinary Arts. The Academy is projected to serve more than 600 students next year.
