Milton High graduate Dylan Cease landed on the disabled list in May with a sprained ankle, but returned on Sunday for the Single-A South Bend Cubs.

And he picked up right where he left off in his third season of minor league ball.

Cease, 21, fanned four batters and gave up just one hit in two innings of work. His side would lose by a score of 3-4 after he was relieved by Tyler Peyton.

After that outing, the 6-foot-2 right-handed pitcher now has a 2.75 ERA on the year with 58 strikeouts over 36 innings. A sixth-round pick by the Chicago Cubs in 2014, Cease is expected to make his next start on Friday against the Lake County Captains.

MLB.com ranks Cease as the third best Cubs’ prospect and the 65th best prospect in all of baseball.
