New moms and dads might not quite know how to properly buckle in a car seat for their newborn.

Even seasoned parents can be tricked by newer cars. In Alpharetta, experts will inspect car seats and install them for free.

Fire Station No. 81 in the north Fulton city hosts a free child car seat safety check each Tuesday from 8 a.m. to noon. It’s at 2970 Webb Bridge Road.

“We often find car seats that are improperly installed by the parent,” said George Gordon, a spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.

A certified child safety seat inspector will look over the car seat and the installation of it. The certified inspector will also show how to correctly install the car seat and explain Georgia’s state laws to parents.

The service is not available on holidays.
