A group of 19 Fulton County middle and high school students will leave for Japan Monday morning as part of an exchange program.
Seventh and eighth grade students from Ridgeview Charter School and Japanese language students from Riverwood International Charter School in Sandy Springs will participate. Japanese teacher Tomomi Davis, who originally came to the U.S. to study for two weeks in Knoxville, Tennessee as a high school student, will take the students on the 10-day trip.

The event is funded by the Japanese government through the Kakehashi Project, a youth exchange program between Japan and the United States. Ridgeview and Riverwood were among four schools chosen to participate, according to a press release.
The trip, which takes place March 19-27, will include some sightseeing in Tokyo and “home stay” with Japanese host families for two days in the Tochigi Prefecture. The students will depart from Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport Monday morning.
