The Fulton County Attorney’s office has been given the go-ahead dollars in one-cent local option sales tax revenues will be returned to taxpayers over the next decade. Negotiations failed, and now a Superior Court judge from outside the county will decide who has the best plan for divvying up roughly $220 million per year between the 15 governments.

After a closed meeting, the Fulton County Commission voted unanimously to authorize their attorney to file a petition to start arbitration. It must be done by the end of the month, or the tax could expire.
