A car crash near the University of Georgia killed two women from Snellville and seriously injured a young man Saturday, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Olivia Cox, 22, died at the scene and Megan Smith, 23, died at the hospital, the station reported.

William Maddox, a 23-year-old University of Georgia graduate, was in critical but stable condition at Athens Regional Medical Center Monday.

Police said the Nissan was carrying Cox, Smith and Maddox, driver Madison Wilhelm and Eric Dobbs.

Wilhelm’s vehicle left the roadway and she overcorrected, crossing the median into northbound lanes of the Athens loop and hitting another car, according to Channel 2.

Dobbs and Wilhelm were treated and released.

Police did not issue any citations pending the outcome of their investigation.
