Residents of Powder Springs and those living in the Powder Springs mailing district have the first opportunity to register for Cobb County’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training in January.

In the event of a major disaster, CERT basic training is designed to prepare people to help themselves, their families, their workplaces and their communities.

The training will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays - Jan. 12, 19 and 26 - at the Coach George E. Ford Center, 4181 Atlanta St., Powder Springs.

Because emergency services personnel may be overwhelmed or delayed, these individuals can make a difference by using their CERT training to help others.

With training and practice and by working as a team, participants will be able to protect themselves and help others after a disaster.

Register by contacting Shannon Slay at 770-943-1616 ext. 210 or sslay@CityOfPowderSprings.org.
