Atlanta firefighters will be offering free car seat checks during a health fair Saturday.

The event will take place at the Home Depot at 650 Ponce De Leon Avenue in Midtown, according to Capt. Bill May. Health screenings, car seat checks and fire prevention information will be offered from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Each year, thousands of children are killed in automobile accidents, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. With so many different car sears available, it is vital for parents to make sure it is installed correctly.

Also, children require different types of seats based on their age and size, according to the AAP.
