To preserve the history of Naval Air Station Atlanta, Inspire Aviation Foundation, a nonprofit organization, has launched a fundraising campaign to preserve the NAS Atlanta Archives, according to a press release.

Inspire Aviation Foundation has become the custodian of the Naval Air Station Atlanta Archives. The NAS Atlanta Reunion Group has donated their photo archives, newspaper clippings and artifacts to the foundation. Inspire Aviation Foundation plans to digitize the original photographs and documents for future access and exhibition and to properly store the originals.

Once the project is completed, the objective of the foundation is to develop an historical ground tour at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport and author a book about NAS Atlanta and its legacy. This material will also be used in the future to produce an exhibit at the Atlanta Air and Space Museum dedicated to NAS Atlanta and modern-day Dekalb-Peachtree Airport.

Donations will be processed through the 501(c)3 Inspire Aviation Foundation at: atlantaairandspacemuseum.org/nas-atlanta-archives
