The city of Smyrna will hold a forum Tuesday, Dec. 7 for residents of Hickory Lake apartments. The drop-in session begins at 4 p.m. and lasts through 7:30 p.m.

Smyrna is purchasing the complex for $9.4 million and should close on the property by mid-December. The city then plans to demolish the 726-unit complex in the spring of 2011, and eventually sell at least some of the 48-acres of land to developers.

At Tuesday’s session residents will hear from the city about any moving assistance and financial incentives, including reduced rent or help with utility hookups at other nearby complexes. Previously, the city has said they would help tenants locate other housing, but would not pay moving expenses.

For more information, call the city at 770-434-6600 or the complex (770) 432-9677.
