Forsyth County official updated the continuing work at the courthouse annex and renovations to begin this fall inside the administration building.

The annex landscaping project began in August, is on schedule and is expected to be completed in mid-November, officials said. Also, new signage designating the building as the Forsyth County Courthouse Annex is to be in place by year’s end.

This month, new landscape plants will go in at the administration building, while a construction contract for the administrative area is to be awarded. Work is to start in late November or early December and be completed in the second quarter of 2019.

The large conference room in the commissioners’ office will be relocated and expanded to accommodate more seating at work sessions and other meetings. Adjacent office areas will be reconfigured. Some administrative staff will be moved to space previously occupied by voter registration and elections.

Besides increasing the conference room’s seating capacity, “we will also be installing technology that will allow for overflow and remote viewing of meetings held in the conference room,” County Manager Eric Johnson said.
