Forsyth County commissioners will lay the groundwork Tuesday that would allow beekeepers to operate. The commission is scheduled to discuss the measure at a work session at 6:30 p.m. at the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main, Cumming

Last month, commissioners gave verbal approval to about two dozen beekeepers who were lobbying for a change in the code that classifies bees as livestock and makes it virtually impossible to own hives in most residential areas. Proponents of the change say honey bees are not domesticated and should not be considered livestock.
