The Forsyth County schools are seeking public comment on the draft calendar for the 2017-18 school year, and a proposal to ban E-cigarettes from school property.

The district will accept input on the calendar through Friday. The School Board is expected to vote on the calendar Nov. 17.

Among other things, the school year would begin Aug. 3. There's a one-week break in the fall, at Thanksgiving, and in the spring, and a two-week holiday break. School ends before Memorial Day. To view the calendar: bit.ly/2dwepP5 To comment: bit.ly/2eqP7IE

Also, the district may amend its tobacco policy – which already bans smoking in a school building by anyone, and smoking anywhere on the grounds by students and district employees – to prohibit "the use of E-Cigarettes, and other electronic tools and devices."
