Forsyth County Parks and Recreation has gotten some regional recognition.

The department copped the Georgia Recreation and Park Association’s District 7 Agency of the Year Award during a banquet on Nov. 2. Forsyth County won in the over-50-thousand-population category.

The county agency received kudos for a number of its programs, including specialized training and development programs for staffers, a new and easier-to-navigate website, a robust social media presence and having an online registration system for programs.

The GRPA also noted the opening of two new park facilities within the county in its award.
