Moreland Altobelli Associates Inc. has gotten the go-ahead from Forsyth County to begin construction engineering for the widening of Pilgrim Mill Road north of Cumming.

The Forsyth Board of Commissioners approved spending up to $299,968 for the work. About 1.7 miles of Pilgrim Mills to be widened to four lanes from two with a 20-foot raised median from Aquatic Circle to Freedom Parkway; and to three lanes from two with a center turn lane between Freedom and Holtzclaw Road, according to a Forsyth project map.

There also would be a 10-foot paved path on the north side of the road, and a 5-foot sidewalk on the south side. The map shows Pilgrim Mill Circle relocated to intersect with Pilgrim Mill Road about 600 feet east of its current location. The bridge over Ga. 400 would be widened to seven lanes from the current three, with dual left-turn lanes to southbound Ga. 400 and a single left turn to northbound Ga. 400.

The $10 million project is to be started this year and completed in January 2020. Information: https://bit.ly/2KI4HLi
