Forsyth County has announced a public hearing for later this month to consider extending to Oct. 5 an “emergency, temporary moratorium” on wireless devices in the county right-of-way.

The hearing is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, July 19, in the commissioner’s meeting room, Suite 220, of the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E Main St, Cumming.

The moratorium continues one originally adopted April 10 and extended on May 3 to bar the acceptance of permits for wireless communications devices and facilities in the county right-of-way, officials said. It gives the county more time to adopt an ordinance regulating the practice, according to a county resolution.
