A sanctioned tournament of the Professional Disc Golf Association will inaugurate play Saturday, March 16, of a new disc golf course in Forsyth County.
The course will open to the public on Sunday, March 17, in the county park at Chattahoochee Point, 5790 Chattahoochee Point Drive on the Chattahoochee River in southeast Forsyth.
“We look forward to offering an additional disc golf course in the southern portion of the county,” said Forsyth Parks and Recreation Director Jim Pryor. “The existing course at Central Park is well used, and this will provide another outlet for disc golfers in the county as well as visitors from the surrounding areas.”
With 18 holes and blue tees for advanced players and white tees for beginner and intermediate players, the new course will offer two basket-setting options to create different challenges, officials said. It was funded by SPLOST VII funds and included the planting of 60 trees donated by three local Rotary Clubs.
