Forsyth County Schools officials have released a draft of the proposed 2018-2019 school calendar, and are looking for feedback through Oct. 27.

Highlights of the document include ending the first semester prior to the holiday beak, one-week fall, spring and Thanksgiving holiday breaks and a two-week holiday break from Dec. 21 through Jan. 3. The calendar also includes two K-12 early-release days, one in each semester, with two additional days for parent-teacher conferences.

Two changes are noteworthy from last year. One adds an additional full-day professional day for staff (with no school for students that day) and the other moves one of the early-release days from a Wednesday to the Friday of Labor Day weekend.

The draft calendar pegs the first day of school as Aug. 2 and the last day May 24. This year, school began on Aug. 3. The Board of Education is set to approve the calendar in mid-November.
