A tentative millage rate that would result in a 1.79% property tax increase is the subject of three public hearings this month before the Forsyth County Board of Education.

Hearings are scheduled for 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at the Forsyth Board of Education Central Office Building, 1120 Dahlonega Highway, Cumming.

The proposed millage rate of 17.30 mills, unchanged from last year, would represent an increase of 0.305 mills above the rollback rate, the school district said. It would result in an additional $45.14 in taxes for a home with a fair market value of $375,000, and $39.65 for a non-homestead property of the same value.
