The Ga. 20 widening project in Forsyth and Gwinnett Counties has reached another milestone.

Starting Feb. 13, project contractor C.W. Matthews will begin splitting traffic around a recently-constructed median. That will divide traffic and allow drivers to use a brand-new stretch of roadway between Samples Road and James Burgess Road. GDOT cautions that traffic will remain one-lane in each direction.

A GDOT spokeswoman said the split is a first step toward opening the entire project by the end of May.
