It may soon be O.K. to have alcohol in some Forsyth County parks. The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners voted to OK a special events policy that would allow alcohol during festivals and other events at Chattahoochee Point and Eagle’s Beak parks and at the Sawnee Mountain Preserve Visitors Center.

Applicants will need to apply for an alcohol permit separately from their special events application, with a fee of $250 imposed for events drawing fewer than 500 people and $500 for events drawing more than 500. They’ll also have to hew to a rather lengthy list of requirements covering sanitation, security, cleanup and liability insurance among other areas.

The events policy also allows for a maximum of two events per month being approved along the Big Creek Greenway and provides for an annual trainer’s permit for personal trainers wishing to conduct outdoor sessions in the parks.
