Forsyth County kicks off comprehensive plan process
Forsyth County officials laid out a timeline for rewriting the county’s 20-year comprehensive plan at a recent county commission meeting.
Deputy planning director Vanessa Bernstein-Goldman said three visioning workshops will be held in April with a joint session of the visioning and steering committees kicking things off at 6 p.m. April 11 at the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming.
The meetings will be followed by a trio of design charrettes in May and implementation workshops in June. Two open houses will follow in August to allow the public to comment on a full draft of the plan.
Following planning commission and state reviews, commissioners will adopt the document in December.
The vision and steering committees will guide the process and a stand-alone website will be created.
The plan is to serve as an umbrella policy outlining the county’s preferred future and will cover land use, housing, economic development and transportation.
