A Forsyth County family lost nearly everything when their home caught fire on New Year’s Eve.
The McGuinness family of Manor Creek Drive in Cumming rang in the new year while their house burned, Forsyth County Fire Chief Jason Shivers said.
The whole family was displaced but no one was injured, according to a fundraising campaign.
When crews arrived about 11 p.m Sunday, more than 50 percent of the 4,000-square-foot home was destroyed, Shivers said.
An origin of the fire had not been determined.
“The investigation is being hampered by the cold temperatures,” Shivers said.
The family was devastated.
