Forsyth County’s Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing next week to consider extending a 30-day emergency zoning moratorium beyond April 7.

Commissioners approved the halt on applications for property rezoning, sketch plat approval, zoning condition amendments and conditional use permits in early March. County Attorney Ken Jarrard told the board then that the planning and community development department was down by multiple senior planners and needed to catch up. Jarrard also noted a growing overall volume of zoning cases.

The hearing is set for 5 p.m. April 7 at the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E, Main St., Cumming.
