The Forsyth County Commission will again consider creating a new zoning category, single family community residential district this week. The designation would allow developers creating larger-scale subdivisions built with higher-than-minimum lot sizes to vary home plot sizes within a subdivision.

Based on feedback coming out of a Feb. 24 planning commission meeting, county staffers will present a revised draft of the proposal and invite public comment 5 p.m. Thursday at the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main Street, Cumming. The hearing will come during the regular commission meeting.

Also Thursday, the commission will again consider a change in the county alcohol ordinance allowing businesses with valid alcohol licenses to be granted up to 30 special event permits a year, up from the current 12.
