Possible changes to Forsyth County’s sign ordinance will be the focus of a hearing set for 5 p.m. May 7 at the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E Main St., Cumming.

One proposed change would involve electronic message boards. Currently allowed only in commercial and industrial zoning districts, the signs would be permitted in any district where property has a minimum of 100 feet of frontage along a four-lane or greater divided roadway, and is principally used as a college, university, private or parochial school, hospital or religious facility. It also has a new section regarding signs on property in the MPD zoning district.

The ordinance maintains existing restrictions on the brightness of such signs during both day and nightime hours, and on how quickly sign content can be changed.
