Political party candidate qualifying for the May 24 primary and for nonpartisan candidates in the November general election kicked off Monday in Cherokee and Forsyth counties and runs through noon Friday.

Candidates in both counties will be paying filing fees to run for board of commissioners and county board of education positions, court clerk and sheriff, plus various other offices. Filing fees range from a low of $35 to $4139.

Cherokee County candidates can qualify at the elections building at 400 E. Main St., Canton while Forsyth residents need to visit election headquarters in the county administration building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming.
