Former Cherokee County elections director Janet Munda has been indicted on felony theft by taking charges by a county grand jury. Munda is accused of using a county credit card for various personal expenses between November of 2011 and March of last year.

Munda was fired by the elections board last July after the irregularities came to light and was arrested in January. District Attorney Shannon Wallace said she faces a minimum of one year on probation and a maximum of 15 years in prison if convicted.

Munda is set for a first court appearance at 9 a.m April 16 in front of Judge Jackson Harris.
