A Forest Park ethics board member resigned Monday after she learned she was serving on too many city boards. Lois Wright claimed not to know she was violating the ethics board’s rules when appointed to the Urban Redevelopment Agency (URA) board in addition to the city’s ethics board in 2014. Section 2-1-46 of the city’s code of ethics specifies that members cannot “serve on any other board or commission or authority of the city.”

Forest Park city council unanimously appointed Wright to the ethics board Sept. 3, 2013. On March 17, 2014, The ethics board again voted unanimously to appoint her to the URA. A month after that, Wright was appointed chairwoman of the city’s Development Authority. Wright maintained all three positions until last month, when another board member brought up the violation in a council meeting.
