Pedestrian traffic will no longer be allowed at the Cherokee Street railroad crossing in Kennesaw during special events at Depot Park.

Walkers will be directed to use a pedestrian underpass which connects the park with Main Street. The move was prompted by recent incidents involving pedestrians, on foot and in wheelchairs, getting stuck in the railroad tracks, according city officials.

Outdoor concerts on June 11 and July 3 will be the first two events affected.
