The Georgia Department of Transportation will pay $500,000 for bicycle and pedestrian improvements on the second phase of Floyd Road Trail in Mableton. The remaining $136,746 will be paid by Cobb from 2005 SPLOST funds.

Also, a 10-foot-wide trail will be constructed on the west side of Floyd Road from Hicks Road to the Silver Comet Trailhead near Bates Road for .64 mile.

Glosson Enterprises recently was awarded the contract by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.

Improvements are expected to be completed by summer.
