The Henry County School System named Dana Flowers, an EIP math teacher at Timber Ridge Elementary School, as its Teacher of the Year at the annual Harvest of Heroes ceremony Oct. 13.

She was one of three semifinalists along with David Crumbley of Ola Middle School and Chansi Coleman of Eagle’s Landing High School. As the countywide winner, Flowers received more than $8,000 in cash and prizes, including funds for professional development conferences, and will represent Henry County at the Georgia Teacher of the Year competition. She is an eight-year veteran as a teacher in the district, which is actually her second career as she had a stint in health-care management. Semifinalists were Laura Bone (Rock Spring Elementary), Dr. Lynett Falkner (Locust Grove Middle) and Linda Bates (Ola High School). Information: www.henry.k12.ga.us.
