Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth has fallen on hard times. But the county and a local community improvement district want to revitalize the mall area. VINO WONG / VWONG@AJC.COM

Gwinnett Place, in Gwinnett County, in the 1980s.

The MegaMart, the much-anticipated department and grocery store in Gwinnett Place had its soft opening October 2010. The new store is located in two floors of the old three story Macy's, which moved a long time ago to the vacant Rich's location at the Duluth mall.
