Dunwoody police have charged five teenagers with vandalizing a community garden at Brook Run Park late last month.
The five juveniles, four from Dunwoody and one from Roswell, were charged after an anonymous tip to investigators, Dunwoody police Sgt. Mike Carlson said. He said the five, whose names have not been released, were charged with criminal damage to property 2nd degree. They were released to their parents.
The vandalism caused substantial damage to the community garden, destroying food that was to be donated to a local food bank, police said.
"A group of teenagers decided to go to Brook Run Park after hours," Dunwoody Police Chief Billy Grogan said Tuesday in a statement announcing the charges.
"One thing led to another and now all five are charged with a felony," Grogan said. "I can't stress enough how important it is for teenagers to think about the consequences of their actions before they do something like this."
